General Terms and Conditions of Purchase and Participation

These General Terms and Conditions govern the purchase of tickets and participation in Maker Faire Porto, organized by TINKER CITY – ASSOCIAÇÃO.
By purchasing a ticket and participating in the event, participants agree to the terms described below.

2. Event Organization
Maker Faire Porto is organized by Tinker City, hereinafter referred to as the “Organization”.
The Organization reserves the right to update event information, schedules, speakers, activities, and operational details whenever necessary.
3. Ticket Purchase
Tickets may be purchased exclusively through the official event platform and authorized channels.
A purchase is only considered valid after:
Successful payment confirmation
Issuance of the electronic ticket or purchase confirmation
All prices displayed include VAT at the legally applicable rate, where required.
The Organization reserves the right to modify ticket prices, ticket batches, discounts, and promotional campaigns without prior notice, while safeguarding purchases already completed.
4. Ticket Delivery
After payment confirmation, tickets will be sent to the email address provided during checkout.
Delivery is usually immediate but may, in exceptional situations, take up to 24 hours.
Participants are responsible for ensuring that all submitted information is accurate and complete.
5. Exchange and Refund Policy
Under Article 17, paragraph l), of Portuguese Decree-Law No. 24/2014 of February 14, concerning distance contracts, there is no right of withdrawal for tickets purchased for events with a specific date or duration.
Therefore:
Ticket exchanges or refunds are not accepted except in the case of event cancellation
In the event of postponement, the Organization will communicate the applicable conditions to participants
In the event of definitive cancellation due to the Organization’s responsibility, the amount paid for the ticket will be refunded, excluding external operating costs or platform fees where applicable
Refund requests must be submitted within the deadline communicated through the official event channels.
6. Event Access Conditions
The Organization reserves the right to:
Request identification documents at the venue entrance
Refuse entry to participants displaying inappropriate, unsafe, or disruptive behavior
Remove participants who compromise the safety or experience of others
Modify schedules, activities, speakers, or event areas due to operational or force majeure reasons
Access may be denied if a ticket shows signs of duplication, fraud, misuse, or unauthorized resale.
7. Participant Conduct
Participants are expected to behave respectfully toward staff, exhibitors, speakers, volunteers, and other attendees.
Any discriminatory, abusive, violent, or inappropriate behavior may result in removal from the event without refund.
8. Photography and Video Recording
By attending the event, participants authorize the capture of photographs, videos, and audiovisual recordings during Maker Faire Porto.
Such content may be used by the Organization for:
Promotional purposes
Institutional communication
Social media and marketing materials
Future editions and related initiatives
No compensation shall be due for the use of such materials.
Participants wishing to object to the use of identifiable individual images should contact the Organization in advance.
9. Personal Data Protection
The Organization undertakes to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and all applicable data protection legislation.
Personal data collected during registration or ticket purchase may be used for:
Event management and participation
Operational and logistical communication
Invoicing and legal obligations
Customer support
Event-related updates and communications
Future communications where consent has been provided
Data will be processed confidentially and only shared with third parties where necessary for event operations, payment processing, ticketing systems, accreditation, or legal compliance.

10. Intellectual Property
All event branding, visual identity, content, logos, materials, and communications related to Maker Faire Porto remain the property of the Organization or their respective owners.
Unauthorized reproduction or commercial use is prohibited.
11. Complaints Book
Under Portuguese law, participants may access the Electronic Complaints Book through the official platform:

12. Alternative Dispute Resolution
In the event of a consumer dispute, participants may resort to an Alternative Consumer Dispute Resolution Entity.

13. Limitation of Liability
The Organization shall not be held responsible for:
Loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings
Failures caused by force majeure
Delays or interruptions beyond reasonable control
Technical failures from external ticketing or payment platforms
14. Changes to the Event
The Organization reserves the right to alter the program, speakers, venue arrangements, schedules, or activities whenever operationally necessary.
Whenever possible, significant changes will be communicated through official channels.
